Gerald W. Heaney a decorated World War II veteran has been a Duluth area resident since 1945. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.S.L. degree in 1939 and obtained his LL.B degree from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1941. He has demonstrated a unique interest and unusual compassion for his fellow man through his judicial opinions, which have made a lasting contribution to society. Judge Heaney has made many civic contributions from serving as one of the principal organizers of the Northeastern Minnesota Development Association to helping to secure funds for many programs and buildings at the University of Minnesota Duluth to organizing the permanent exhibit on Hubert H. Humphrey. Judge Heaney's service also included serving as a member of the University of Minnesota Board of Regents.
