Gerald W. Timm

Gerald W. Timm earned his bachelor's degree (1963), master's degree (1965), and Ph.D. (1967) in Engineering from the University of Minnesota. From 1970-72 he was a NIH Trainee in Neurology at the University. He has excelled in virtually every area of biomedical engineering: as educator, researcher, inventor, entrepreneur, and administrator. He helped to establish a Ph.D. degree program in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Minnesota and served a graduate faculty member in Neurology, Biomedical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering. He has carried out pioneering research on electrical bladder stimulation and fluid transfer systems and formed and/or led several highly successful businesses to develop medical diagnosis and treatment product lines in the areas of urinary bladder dysfunctions and impotence. Dr. Timm serves on the Coordinating Committee for the Biomedical Engineering Endowment Campaign and the President's Council at the University of Minnesota.
