Thomas W. Rusch

Thomas W. Rusch completed his bachelors (1968), masters (1970), and doctoral (1973) degrees in electrical engineering from the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota. He returned to earn a masters degree in the Management of Technology in 1993. His illustrious career first began as a senior physicist at 3M and then as a research specialist. By 1994, he became the founder and president of Creekside Technologies, and in 1998, he cofounded Xoft, Inc., serving as its chief technical officer. He is credited with his pioneering development of microtube X-ray technology, used as a source for delivery of radiation therapy internally after a lumpectomy for early stage breast cancer. Rusch is inventor of six U.S. patents and has published more than 33 papers in professional journals. He is described as a mentor to young scientists and engineers, an inspiration to the company, and as a well-loved leader at Xoft.
