Reuben Dennis Rieke

Reuben Dennis Rieke received a bachelor's degree in chemistry in 1961. He is a Regents Professor of Chemistry at the University of Nebraska and President of Rieke Metals, Inc. He has made extensive contributions to synthetic chemistry by his discovery and introduction of highly activated forms of metals such as magnesium, barium, copper, etc., for the generation of organometallic reagents. The development of high surface presentation, or activated, metals, is now known worldwide as "Rieke Metals."
