Harry H. MacLaughlin

Outstanding Achievement Award Recipient

A native Minnesotan, Judge MacLaughlin became a student at the University of Minnesota, graduating from the School of Business Administration with distinction in 1949 and in 1956 he graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School. He has had a long and distinguished career in the practice of law and in public service. He was appointed to the Minnesota Supreme Court in 1972 and to the United States District Court in 1977. The All-University Honors Committee overwhelmingly agrees with Ambassador Walter Mondale's assessment that "Harry McLaughlin is an example of the high quality the University of Minnesota produces. He is brilliant, efficient, devoted to the law, and has a sense of social justice and decency. He is a tribute to the University and our State and is fully deserving of the Outstanding Achievement Award." The All-University Honors Committee unanimously endorsed the nomination of Judge Harry H. MacLaughlin for an Outstanding Achievement Award.
