Julie A. Kirihara

Julie A. Kirihara earned a B.S. degree in Biochemistry, magna cum laude (1981) and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry (1988) from the University of Minnesota. In 1989 she began her professional career at Molecular Genetics, Inc. where she played a significant role in the successful introduction of foreign genes into corn and holds the patent for Fertile Transgenic Corn Plants. She later joined 3M Pharmaceuticals, the company that provided her with a contract that helped launch ATG Laboratories, a thriving business that provides molecular biology and expression services. Dr. Kirihara plays an active role in promoting the biotechnology industry in Minnesota and is an active community volunteer.
