Lyle A. French

Outstanding Achievement Award Recipient

Lyle A. French graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1940 and completed his Ph.D. in 1947. He completed his internship at the University of Minnesota as well as his residency in neurosurgery, then finished his residency training in 1947, at which time he also completed his Doctorate Thesis relating to brain tumors in children. He served as Vice President for Health Sciences and Chief of Staff at the University of Minnesota Hospitals. His contributions to the University, the Academic Health Center, and regional and global societies are outstanding and as exemplary as his numerous awards, citations, and visiting professorships attest. The All-University Honors Committee enthusiastically endorsed the awarding of an Outstanding Achievement Award to Dr. Lyle A. French from the University of Minnesota.
