D.S. Dhamotharan received his Ph.D. in civil engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1979. Since graduation, he has become a national and international leader in the engineering design, technical services, and consulting business. Currently, he is the Executive Vice President of URS Corporation in Houston, Texas, which provides these services for clients in the private sector, state and local public sector, and the federal government. It is the largest engineering and design firm in the world. The major decisions he has made have had a positive impact on millions of people throughout the world. His service in professional and civic organizations is equally as impressive. He has served as a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, served as the General Secretary of the American Water Resources Association, the Editor of HYDATA, a member of the Executive Committee of the Interstate Natural Gas Association Foundation and on the Board of Directors of the American Heart Association and Meenakshi Temple Society.
