Richard N. Aslin

Richard N. Aslin, the William R. Kenan Professor of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at the University of Rochester, New York, received his Ph.D. from the Institute of Child Development in 1975 at the University of Minnesota. He is considered to be a preeminent, world-renowned investigator of perceptual development and how infants learn the statistical regularities of their environments. Aslin has also served in several administrative posts at the University of Rochester, including vice provost and dean. dean of the College of Arts and Science, and chair of the Department of Psychology. His publications include 114 articles in peer-reviewed journals, 34 chapters, 18 reviews and commentaries, and three edited books. Aslin continues to receive funding for his research, which includes 16 grants from NIH and nine from NSF. He is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including National Academy of Sciences Fellow, American Academy of Arts and Sciences Fellow, Fellow of the American Association of the Advancement of Science, and Guggenheim Fellow. He has also been awarded several lifetime achievement awards and an honorary doctorate from Uppsala University. His exceptional teaching has earned him a Lifetime Achievement Award in Graduate Education and an Award for Distinguished Contributions to Undergraduate Learning, both from the University of Rochester.
