James Rosenquist is a significant American artist. He was one of the core members of the pop art movement. Drawing on his background of painting billboards, he created enormous paintings using images from popular culture. He has exhibited his work worldwide and his paintings and prints can be found in the collections of the world's largest and most prestigious museums. He spent his early years in Minnesota. He attended the University of Minnesota from 1952 to 1954 and studied with Cameron Booth in the Art Department.
