Sandra Edwardson

Sandra Edwardson earned her PhD in hospital and health care administration at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health in 1980. She began her teaching career at the University as a postdoctoral instructor and went on to become full professor before serving as dean of the School of Nursing from 1991 to 2004. Edwardson was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing in 2003 for her outstanding contributions to nursing research, policy, administration, and practice. After 34 years of professional service to the University, she continues to share her expertise and historical insights in support of strategic initiatives. Additional contributions she has made in her post-career at the University include joining the School of Nursing Heritage Committee to help make videos, webpages, exhibits, online articles, and a catalogued archive of documents, pictures, and other historical artifacts. This is a testament to Edwardson’s dedication to preserving the history of the School of Nursing and illuminating its future.
