Robert Sundahl

Alumni Service Award Recipient

College of Science and Engineering, September 23, 2021

Robert Sundahl received a bachelor of science degree (1958), master of science degree (1964), and a PhD all in metallurgical engineering from the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) at the University of Minnesota. He worked for many years at Intel Corporation before establishing his own business, Clay Street Associates, a spin-off of Intel Corporation. He has dedicated countless hours of volunteer service to CSE for more than 10 years. He has played an important role in connecting alumni back to the college through his service on his 50-year reunion committee. His outstanding service on the CSE Campaign Committee, which he did twice, helped CSE exceed its campaign goals. Sundahl has actively worked to solicit and secure major gifts and has hosted campaign related events. He has been an active member of the Dean’s Advisory Board since 2016. Because of his passion about making college, particularly graduate school, accessible to bright young scientists and engineers, Sundahl has made over $700,000 in gifts to support mainly undergraduate scholarships and graduate student fellowships.
