Barbara J. Shin

Barbara J. Shin received a bachelor of science degree (1961) in elementary education, a master of arts degree (1982) in curriculum and instruction, and a Ph.D. (1989) in educational administration from the College of Education (now the College of Education and Human Development [CEHD]) at the University of Minnesota. Shin has dedicated 30 years to the Minneapolis Public Schools as an elementary teacher and school administrator and as a faculty member at Augsburg College, University of Saint Thomas, and Hamline University. Described as one of the CEHD’s most committed and passionate alumni volunteers, Shin has led the CEHD Alumni Society; advanced the mission of the Women’s Philanthropic Leadership circle; increased alumni engagement; mentored students; and promoted the University’s Pi Lambda Theta chapter, an international education honorary society.
