Rusty Nelson

College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences, October 11, 2012

Rusty Nelson has been an active and dedicated volunteer for the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences (CFANS) for nearly 10 years. He received two degrees from the college, a bachelor of science degree in animal science (1969) and a bachelor of science degree in food science (1971). He has been the product development manager for SuperValu since 2007. He has also held positions with Multifoods, General Mills and Starch and Flavors. He was elected to the CFANS Alumni Society in 2004. In 2005, when the college began the process of merging with the College of Natural Resources and the College of Human Ecology, he was actively involved with the strategic planning efforts associated with the creation of the CFANS Alumni Society. He served two terms on the Board of Directors and on numerous committees. He has served as a mentor since 2004 and as a member of the Mentor Program Committee. He has participated in the establishment of the Science Achievement Award, which recognizes high school juniors who excel in science. He has also been actively involved in the Classes Without Quizzes program, Golf Scramble for Scholarships, and the newly established Sponsorship Committee.
