Bruce W. Mooty received an undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota College of Liberal Arts in 1977 and a law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1980. He is a very successful business lawyer at the Minneapolis law firm of Gray, Plant, Mooty and has devoted much time and talent to the Alumni Association and the University of Minnesota. He has been an active and effective volunteer for the Alumni Association for eight years, starting as an at-large representative on the Alumni Association National Board of Directors and finally as national president in 2008-2009. He co-chaired the Alumni Association Advocacy Committee and played a significant role in developing and implementing the Alumni Association's new brand that positioned members as ambassadors for the University and he served as the primary spokesperson for the Alumni Association's Life Membership campaign. He is also credited with leading the process to formulate a Memorandum of Understanding between the Alumni Association and the University. In summary, Mr. Mooty has a remarkable record of service to the Alumni Association and the University of Minnesota.
