Thomas Meyer

Thomas Meyer received a bachelor of architecture degree in 1974 from the College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (CALA) at the University of Minnesota. He is a founding partner of the architectural firm Meyer, Scherer & Rockcastle, Ltd., which is considered to be one of Minnesota's leading architectural firms. The firm was established in 1981, employs 50 architects, interior designers, and staff, and has been the recipient of over 100 national and state design awards. A distinguished educator, he served as assistant and then associate professor in the CALA from 1985-1999. In 1990, he received the first Ralph Rapson Award for Distinguished Teaching. His history of service to the University of Minnesota and the now College of Design is extensive. He has served as a member of the College of Design Dean's Advisory Board since 2007; chaired the College's Blue Ribbon Committee (2009-2010); served as a member on the College's Design Strategic Positioning Transition Task Force (2005-2006); chaired the U of M Eastcliff Technical Advisory Board (1992-1999); served as a member of the University of Minnesota Alumni Association and Friends of the Goldstein Museum of Design. In addition, he has been an active mentor and he has participated on numerous architectural faculty searches and curriculum task force committees. He is described as a sage advisor and passionate advocate who has contributed to the formation and advancement of the College of Design and has had a lasting impact on the University of Minnesota.
