Charles Lo

Charles Lo received a bachelor of mechanical engineering (1970), a master of science in mechanical engineering (1972) from the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) and a master of business administration (1993) from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. He is a retired director of Asia Pacific Sales for TSI, a precision measurements company that was launched out of the Department of Mechanical Engineering’s Particle Technology Lab fifty years ago. Lo is described as a tireless volunteer for the Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME). Since 2014, after retiring, Lo has worked full time, without pay, for ME, helping wherever he is needed. He also is credited with providing important leadership to CSE as a member of the Dean’s Campaign Cabinet and Steering Committee. Due to Lo and other committee members, CSE surpassed their $150 million goal, raising over $176 million. He is a member of the ME Advisory Council, which promotes the educational and research programs of ME with industry, and has also been active in connecting ME with its teaching and research counterparts at Chinese universities. He is a joint life member of the University of Minnesota Alumni Association with his wife, and a regular participant at numerous University events.
