Alumni Service Award Recipient

College of Education and Human Development, October 8, 2009

Barbara Stephens Foster received a bachelor of general studies in child-care administration from the University of Minnesota in 1990. Over the course of her distinguished career at the University, she served on the General College Alumni Society Board of Directors. After the General College closed, she was determined to create a General College legacy and a home for General College alumni. The College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) invited her to become one of three ambassadors to the CEHD Alumni Society. With the creation of the new CEHD in 2006, 13,000 General College alumni were welcomed into the college. Because of her dedication, the voice and values of the General College are imbedded in all that the CEHD Alumni Society Board does. She is described as an enthusiastic and committed volunteer who has a tremendous passion for shared values and a deep sense of cultural diversity and sensitivity. She currently serves as a board member and serves as a steering committee member on the CEHD Women's Philanthropic leadership Circle. In addition, she serves as a volunteer mentor on the Intercollegiate Athletics Cultural Diversity Task Force.
