Jörg Pierach earned a bachelor of arts degree in journalism in 2002 from the College of Liberal Arts (CLA) at the University of Minnesota. He has served on the University of Minnesota Foundation’s (UMF) Board of Trustees, as an advisor to the Office of Institutional Advancement, and is currently chair of the Board of Overseers of the CLAgency, a student-run communications agency within the CLA. Pierach frequently volunteers for the CLA Business Club and the Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communications alumni events. Pierach is the force behind “The Battle,” a scholarship fundraising effort which, in its inaugural year, generated $25,000 for the scholarship endowment. Since 2015, each summer through his business, Fast Horse, Pierach offers paid internships to University of Minnesota students interested in careers in the creative industries. Most recently, Pierach was named the 2019 University of Minnesota Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication Award for Excellence honoree.
