Edith Johnson

Edith Johnson graduated with a bachelor of arts in speech communication in 1977 from the College of Liberal Arts (CLA) at  the University of Minnesota. During her 33-year career with the City of Minneapolis Housing and Redevelopment Authority, Johnson advocated for underrepresented and underserved communities and was dedicated to a lifetime of service. Johnson is often described as a lifelong proponent of social and environmental justice. Among the many affiliations that have benefitted from her dedication and enthusiasm are First Children’s Finance, Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada, Family Alternatives Foster Care Agency, Education is our Goal, and the Young Entrepreneur Institute. Ever loyal to the University of Minnesota, in retirement, Johnson has continued her tireless efforts. She is the founder and alumni network leader for the Las Vegas, Nevada chapter of the University of Minnesota’s Alumni Association (UMAA), as well as the University’s representative on the Las Vegas Big 10 Board of Directors. She enthusiastically works to unite the Las Vegas alumni by coordinating and presenting engaging events, and welcoming Big 10 sports teams, fans, and leaders and providing them with an exceptional Big 10 experience. Her efforts are applauded and appreciated not only by the University community but by any community to which she lends her support.
