Lowell Anderson

Lowell Anderson earned his bachelor of science degree in 1962 from the College of Pharmacy at the University of Minnesota. He was recognized with an honorary doctor of science degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Sciences in 1995. In Anderson’s nearly 60 years of volunteerism to the University of Minnesota and his profession, he has served as president of the Minnesota Pharmacists Association, the American Pharmacists Association, and the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy, and as a member of the International Pharmaceutical Federation. He is a life member of the University of Minnesota Alumni Association (UMAA) and has served on its National Board of Advisors. He received the University of Minnesota’s Outstanding Achievement Award in 1995, a fellowship in the American Pharmaceutical Association in 2001, the Lawrence and Delores Weaver Medal from the University of Minnesota’s College of Pharmacy in 2004, Phi Lambda Sigma’s Proctor & Gamble National Leadership Award in 2011, and recognition as a fellow of the Federation International Pharmaceutique (FIP) in 2012. In 2004, he received the Remington Honor Medal from the American Pharmacists Association, which is considered to be the highest recognition by the American pharmacy profession. His dedication to the University of Minnesota is commendable, having served as the president of the Pharmacy Alumni Society, chair of the College of Pharmacy’s Task Force on Pharmacy Education, chair of the History of the College of Pharmacy Committee, and a member of the College of Pharmacy's Board of Advisors for almost two decades. In addition, Anderson has served on multiple dean search committees, as a member of the Century Mortar Club Board of Directors, and as co-director of the Center for Leading Healthcare Change.
