Jane Lansing

Alumni Service Award Recipient

College of Science and Engineering, September 29, 2022

Jane Lansing earned her bachelor of science degree in civil engineering (1976) from the University of Minnesota. She is the recently retired brand officer and vice president of marketing at Emerson Automation Solutions (Emerson), a global company that helps manufacturers automate and optimize production processes. Lansing joined the Dean’s Advisory Board in the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) in 2014 as one of the first female members, and quickly emerged as a critical advocate for the college. She has also provided invaluable guidance and support to her home department, Civil, Environmental, and Geo-Engineering (CEGE), using her professional expertise to address the challenge of diminishing undergraduate majors. Her work will positively impact the department and its student recruitment efforts for years to come. Whenever any of the four CSE deans Lansing has served are in need of support, whether in the form of advice, action, or philanthropy, she answers the call. She invests a great deal of time and energy into fostering meaningful relationships with board members, students, and staff, and finds opportunities to use her unique skills and expertise in the best interests of CSE.
