Denny Branca received a bachelor of electrical engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1984 and has been an invaluable contributor to the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) at the University of Minnesota for nearly three decades. Since the mid-1990s, he has been a dedicated member of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Industrial Advisory Council, even serving as its chair. Branca’s support has been crucial in assisting three different department heads and providing industry feedback during the ABET accreditation process. He has also played a significant role in revising the department's curriculum and has judged the senior design competition multiple times, offering valuable insights to students. In addition to his contributions to ECE, Branca has been an active member of the CSE Alumni Society Board since 2020. His enthusiasm and leadership were quickly recognized, leading him to chair the Student Engagement Committee just nine months into his tenure. By 2023, Branca had advanced to the role of vice dhair, where he continues to help shape the board’s priorities and oversee its committees. His efforts were especially impactful during the pandemic, where he helped transition the CSE Mentor Program to a virtual format, ensuring the continuity of mentorship and student engagement. Branca's dedication extends beyond formal roles. He regularly attends board events, ensuring they run smoothly and providing a positive experience for guests. His commitment to the University is further exemplified by his life membership in the University of Minnesota Alumni Association and his unwavering support as a football season ticket holder for 17 years. Branca’s leadership and volunteerism have significantly strengthened CSE and its community. His efforts have helped enhance the student experience, build stronger alumni relations, and ensure the relevance of academic programs to industry needs.
