Brent Blackey, a distinguished alumnus of the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management, graduated in 1980 with a bachelor of science degree in business. Blackey's lifelong commitment to the University was evident through his extensive volunteer work and leadership roles, which significantly contributed to the success and reputation of the Carlson School. Serving on the Carlson School's Alumni Advisory Board for six years, including as chair, and on the Board of Advisors for 15 years, Blackey's impact was profound. His tenure on the Executive Committee and as vice chair from 2020 to 2022 was marked by his insightful guidance and dedication to fostering community and collaboration within the school. Blackey's philanthropic endeavors, alongside his wife Karen, also an alumna, were instrumental in supporting the University. Their establishment of a named scholarship fund has benefited numerous students, continuing Blackey's legacy of giving back. Beyond his financial contributions, Blackey was a mentor and role model to many, sharing his expertise and passion for education and service. His leadership extended into the business community, where he was respected for his integrity and commitment to excellence, exemplifying the values of the University. His dedication to the Carlson School and the broader University community was unwavering until his passing in 2022. Blackey's legacy is one of service, leadership, and generosity. His impact will be remembered and felt for many years, honoring his belief in the transformative power of education and community.
