Bill Larson graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy with a bachelor of science in pharmacy in 1981 and a doctor of pharmacy degree in 1983. Over the past 40 years, he has dedicated his career to helping children and adults with HIV in the Twin Cities, providing intensive adherence counseling, education, and follow-up. His commitment has positively impacted countless lives, showcasing his expertise and compassion. Larson’s contributions to the College of Pharmacy are extensive. As a mentor and preceptor, he has guided many students, earning the prestigious Mentor of the Year award from the Pharmacy Alumni Society (PAS). His involvement in the mentoring program spanned over a decade, where he shared his valuable insights and advice with pharmacy students. Serving on the PAS board from 2013-2018, Larson held key positions such as secretary-treasurer, president-elect, and president. His tenure as president was marked by efforts to enhance board diversity, ensuring representation from various ethnic backgrounds, geographical locations, and practice areas. This work earned PAS the UMAA Program Extraordinaire recognition in 2017. Larson’s commitment extends beyond the College of Pharmacy. He actively participates in the College of Pharmacy LGBTQIA+ Affinity group and the University of Minnesota Alumni Association’s Pride Affinity Group, working to foster a sense of connection and support for LGBTQIA+ students, faculty, staff, and alumni. As an avid supporter of University events, Larson regularly attends Gopher football games and Northrop Auditorium performances. He has been a loyal Gopher football season ticket holder since 2016 and consistently volunteers as an alumni host for pre-game receptions, warmly welcoming and engaging with attendees. Larson’s genuine and appreciative nature, coupled with his deep concern for the welfare of the University and its students, makes him a pleasure to work with. Larson’s leadership, mentorship, and volunteerism have significantly contributed to the College of Pharmacy and the broader University community.
