Zhenghua Jiang, Dean of the School of Management of Beijing Normal University and vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, is described as a distinguished scientist, accomplished educator, and an eminent public servant. He has been at the center of research, teaching, and service in the areas of electrical and systems engineering for more than four decades, and in the fields of population sciences and econometrics for more than two decades. He has played a pivotal role in shaping China's regional development model, its approach to economic planning, and long-term strategies for addressing its demographic realities. He is the author/co-author of six books as well as numerous scientific papers. At Peking University, he supervises up to 40 Ph.D. students annually in the fields of demography and economics. In addition, he has been a strong advocate of international partnerships, such as the census micro-data harmonization initiative spearheaded by the Minnesota Population Center.
