Event Honoring the 2006 Regents Professors

Calling them "extraordinary citizens and teachers", President Robert Bruininks congratulated the newest Regents Professors at a reception at Eastcliff in September. On a bright, breezy day on the banks of the autumn-hued Mississippi River, University of Minnesota Professors Megan Gunnar, Kathryn Sikkink and Donald Truhlar celebrated their award with friends, family, colleagues, and other Regents Professors, both current and emeritus.

Event Honoring the 2007 Regents Professors

On September 20, a reception at Eastcliff was held to honor the five University of Minnesota professors named Regents Professors in 2007.

The five named are chemical engineering and materials sciences professor Frank Bates, cultural studies and comparative literature professor Richard Leppert, American studies and history professor Elaine Tyler May, psychology professor Matt McGue, and forest resources professor Peter Reich. The designation of Regents Professor is the highest level of recognition given to faculty by the university.

The four named are physics professor Allen Goldman, history professor Steven Ruggles, geography professor Eric Sheppard and English professor Madelon Sprengnether. The Regents Professor designation is the highest level of recognition given to faculty by the university
