Bruce B. Dayton, described as a man of wisdom and integrity is recognized as one of the most influential businessmen in the State of Minnesota. Under his leadership, The Dayton Company grew from a local company to one of national stature and is known for its ethical business practices and generous corporate philanthropy. He is considered an extraordinarily loyal patron and trustee of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, having served for more than 60 years as a trustee. With his support, the Institute has grown into a nationally recognized museum in the United States. In addition, he has played a significant role in the stewardship of Minnesota’s premier natural resources. The Dayton family’s gifts of land make it possible to preserve and study considerable natural areas within Minnesota. He is also a generous benefactor to Macalester College and the University of Minnesota.
