Proposal to Revoke the Name of Nicholson Hall

History

The All University Honors Committee (AUHC) received a request at the end of fall semester 2023 to revoke the name of Nicholson Hall. Consistent with Board of Regents Policy: Namings and Renamings, the AUHC, with feedback from the Namings and Renamings Work Group (NRWG), will review the request and make a recommendation to Interim President Etttinger, who will ultimately make a final recommendation to the Board of Regents.

Process

The next step in this review process, as specified in Section VIII, Subd. 2 of Board of Regents Policy: Namings and Renamings, is “to invite comments from all interested members of the University community.” At this time, we are initiating a comment period, open to all members of the University community, so we may collect their feedback regarding whether the University should revoke the name of Nicholson Hall.
