Norman T. Uphoff

Norman T. Uphoff received his B.A. degree in Political Science in 1963 from the University of Minnesota, a Masters of Public Administration from Princeton University (1966), and his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley (1970). His contributions include national and international recognition for his scholarly work in political and economic development, with emphasis on sustainable agriculture and rural development. He has served as Director of the Cornell International Institute for Food, Agriculture and Development (CIIFAD), which has become one of the leading academic centers in the field of development. As director of CIIFAD and through partnerships with the World Bank and the U.S. Agency for International Development, he helped develop programs that have contributed to global food security and enhanced human quality of life.
