Mehmood Khan is the vice chairman and chief scientific officer of Global Research & Development at PepsiCo, Inc. He is an esteemed alumnus of the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences at the University of Minnesota (1988-1992). He served as Medical Fellow in clinical endocrinology and assistant clinical specialist in food science and nutrition. Following that, he was an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Minnesota while also directing the Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Nutrition Program at Hennepin County Medical Center. Khan is described as an eminent endocrinologist and world expert on diabetes and nutrition whose work is connecting our growing understanding of human physiology to healthier food productions, government policies, and industry practice. He is also credited with leading PepsiCo to become a leader in innovation in the food industry, overseeing its global Performance with Purpose sustainability agenda, building partnerships with global research universities, and transforming his all-male executive team to one that is now 50% women, and has publically encouraged girls to pursue studies in STEM fields. In addition, Khan is the vice chair and incoming chair of the U.S.-Pakistan Business Council of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which represents U.S. business interests in Pakistan. His service on numerous boards and committees includes MnDrive Strategic Advisory Board. He is also the recipient of many awards, distinctions, and fellowships, including the Harvard University Illuminate Global Award for Innovation.
