Outstanding Achievement Award Recipient

Malcolm P. Weiss received his BA ('47), MSc. ('50) and Ph.D. ('53) all in geology from the Department of Geology and Geophysics at the University of Minnesota. He has made numerous fundamental contributions to a broad range of fields of endeavor in the Earth sciences. His specific area of specialization in geology is stratigraphy and paleontology, which deal with the correlation and interpretation of the fossil remains of sedimentary deposits laid down by physical and chemical forces throughout geologic time. He is also known for his contributions to the Geological Society of America. His colleagues describe him as an outstanding teacher and administrator. The All-University Honors Committee strongly endorsed the awarding of an Outstanding Achievement Award to Dr. Malcolm P. Weiss from the University of Minnesota.
