John J. Talley

John J. Talley earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Minnesota in 1979. Currently he is a Senior Fellow at the Pharmacia Corporation, where he has established himself as a premier researcher in medicinal chemistry. He is the lead inventor of the blockbuster drug Celebrex (celecoxib), a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. He has published dozens of primary publications in the areas of medicinal and organic chemistry and is a co-inventor of technologies described in nearly 100 patents. He has had a huge impact on pharmaceutical research and has played a key role in the introduction of new and extensively used class of drugs that bring relief of inflammation and pain to millions of people worldwide.
