James E. Cabak received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (1960) from the University of Minnesota. He is described as a far-sighted entrepreneur who recognized a need and through organization skills and personal engineering expertise founded and built a dominant worldwide competitor (Bulk Molding Compounds Inc. of Chicago) in compounding polyester-based thermoset molding compounds. He has been active in supporting the University of Minnesota as well as numerous charitable organizations.
