J. Lyle Bootman

Outstanding Achievement Award Recipient

Dr. J. Lyle Bootman is dean and professor of the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy and founding director of The Center for Pharmacoeconomics, in Tucson. He obtained his MS degree (1976) and Ph.D. (1978) in Pharmacy Administration from the University of Minnesota. Additionally, he completed a clinical pharmacy residency at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Bootman has practiced both community and hospital pharmacy. He has published over 200 papers that have received international acclaim for the analysis of drug-related morbidity and pharmaceutical care. As a member the past 26 years, Dr. Bootman has served on APhA policy committees, in the APhA House of Delegates, and on the APhA Board of Trustees. He has been on the board of directors of the Arizona Pharmacy Association for 10 years and recently received the APhA Research Achievement Award in the Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Bootman is described by his colleagues as loyal, a man of high values, a good listener, and one who encourages new ideas.
