Donald Wright

Mr. Wright attended the University of Minnesota from 1952 to 1958. He earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Institute of Technology in 1957 and a master's degree in business administration from the Carlson School of Management in 1958. He has distinguished himself as a leader in the mass communications industry during a career spanning more than 40 years. Mr. Wright is the executive vice president of Times Mirror, where he has held a variety of senior management positions for the last 20 years. Prior to joining Times Mirror, he achieved notoriety in the newspaper business as he rose through the ranks at the Minneapolis Star and Tribune, where he worked from 1957 to 1977. Most notably, Mr. Wright was instrumental in the automation of the newspaper production process at the Minneapolis Star. Many peers cite him as a refreshing example of someone who succeeded because of his integrity, rather than despite it. He is a respected leader, community builder and role model. Mr. Wright has been a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Minnesota Foundation for several years and is an active alumni representative for the University of Minnesota in Los Angeles and the West Coast.
