Carol R. Johnson

Carol R. Johnson is a 1980 and 1987 graduate of the College of Education and Human Development. She has been the Superintendent of the Minneapolis Public Schools since 1997. She provided leadership for the largest, most diverse school district in the state, managing 50,000 students, 6,100 educators, 121 schools and a $663 million budget. She is considered one of Minnesota's most influential and dedicated educational leaders who has worked to achieve academic equity and excellence for all children. She is also a dedicated community volunteer. She has given her time and leadership skills to numerous organizations such as the United Way, the University of Minnesota Foundation, the Guthrie Theatre, the Minnesota Chapter - National Alliance for Black Educators and the Viking Council Boy Scouts of America, to name a few. In addition, she is the recipient of many awards and recognitions.
