Bernice M. Folz

Outstanding Achievement Award Recipient

Bernice Folz received her Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Minnesota in 1973. After completing a biological research thesis, Dr. Folz pursued her interest in computer applications in industry but continued to teach evening and extension courses. She has been a national leader in the field of computer education and has served as an important female role model throughout her forty-year career in academia and industry. She is the founder and director of the graduate programs in Software Engineering at the University of St. Thomas. She has received numerous honors including recognition for outstanding achievement in promoting computer education by The American Academy of Higher Education and the Leavey Award for Excellence in Private Enterprise Education.
