James Jernberg

James Jernberg, professor emeritus, received a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Minnesota Duluth School of Business and Economics in 1957 and a master of arts in public affairs from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus in 1962. He received a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Before joining the faculty ranks at the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs in 1984, he taught at the University of North Carolina and the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He retired from the University in 1995. He is considered a lifelong friend of the Humphrey Institute and a mentor to many. He is described as a "tireless guide to students and alumni through his generous gifts of time and friendship, a supporter of Gopher athletics, a benefactor of the Jernberg Lounge and the Jernberg Award for Service to Students."
