Dennis Schulstad, retired U.S. Air Force brigadier general, received his bachelor's degree from the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota in 1966. His UMAA service began in 1998 when he was elected to the national board of directors. He served as an at-large representative and member of the Marketing and Membership Committee. In 2002, he was elected and served as vice president; first vice-president in 2004; and president-elect in 2005. He served as national president in 2006-07 and is currently the immediate past president. Under his leadership, UMAA membership reached an all-time high of 60,200 and increased life membership by 5%. He dedicated the Scholars Walk and Wall of Discovery, assisted in the groundbreaking celebration for the new TCF Bank Stadium, organized a statewide tour to rally support for the University's legislative request, and welcomed more than 3,000 alumni and friends at the 103rd Annual Celebration featuring alumni Tony Dungy and Stan Freese.
