Zenon Mroz, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, Poland, is an internationally recognized research leader in applied mechanics of solids and structures. Currently, he is the leader/scientific coordinator of the Centre of Excellence for Advanced Materials and Structures (AMAS), which is sponsored by the European Commission. He is recognized for his contributions to knowledge through authorship of seminal publications, particularly in the area of constitutive modeling of materials, optimal design, and sensitivity analysis of structures. His work in constitutive modeling has been ground breaking. He is considered one of the best theoreticians in the field of elasto-plasticity. His accomplishments have been recognized internationally, having received four honorary Doctor of Science degrees. He has also been honored with the distinction of being the most cited scientific author among mathematicians, astronomers, and engineers in Poland.
