Johan Fjord Jensen is considered the preeminent student and critic of the humanities in Denmark between the 1960s and 1980s. He is a prolific scholar of Nordic and Comparative Literature and has brought lasting theoretical and practical innovations to his field(s). He is described as an intellectual role model for a whole generation of Scandinavian academics. He is the recipient of numerous awards including an honorary doctorate degree from the University of Bergen, Norway.
