Cheryl Powers is the founder and president of The Research Edge, LLC. She received a bachelor of arts in German (1972) from the College of Liberal Arts (CLA), and both a master of arts in library science (1975) and master of business administration (1985) from the Graduate School at the University of Minnesota. She has served on the CLA Alumni Society Board since 2012, including terms as president (2015-present) and treasurer (2013-15). She served as a member of the Alumni Engagement Committee (2012-15). Powers has also participated in many CLA alumni-student career development activities and she has served as the CLA representative to the University of Minnesota Alumni Association (UMAA) Collegiate Council since 2015. A UMAA Joint Full Life Member since 1984, Powers is described as a tremendous advocate for the mission and values of the University.
