William D. Hawkland

Biography (At time of award presentation in 2001)

    William D. Hawkland, a 1947 graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School, has been the Chancellor and Professor of Law at Louisiana State University from 1979-1989. He is considered to be an expert in the field of the Uniform Commercial Code. His colleagues say that his achievements rank with any of the 20th century giants in commercial/banking law. In addition to his prolific scholarship, he has received numerous awards and recognition.
